The Scenario

The cruise ship of state U.S.S. LittleBush  has sunk with all crew lost. Fortunately the 2500 passengers, a microcosm of the American population, have made it to an unpopulated island that is habitable with sufficient effort. As one of the passengers, you realize that rescue is not likely for months at the very least--and perhaps longer.

The Exercise

Read some initial reactions.

Read the contracts:

Participate in the discussion.

Online Discussion (3/21-4/07);

Participate in an online discussion of the contracts. There are four requirements for each person's online discussion. You need to:

Ask questions about other contracts,

Offer polite criticisms of other contracts,

Defend your own contract, and

Do all of the above with reference to the authors and ideas we are reading where appropriate.

Final Contracts (due 4/14):

Based on the feedback your contract received online through 4/07, rewrite and improve the contract as a group. Turn in a final contract of about the same length as the initial version. Indicate the name of the author(s) of each section. Turn in one copy of your final contract, on paper, on April 14.
